Current outlook
Based on the Planner's current balances and the Active Plan's future assumptions.
Plan status
No monthly check-in has been recorded.
Next milestone
Plan, actual, and Current projection
Plan projection stays tied to Plan Setup. Actual points come from Progress check-ins. Current projection starts at the latest valid actual balances and applies the current strategy and future assumptions from there.
Action plan
Monthly payment workspace
See the modeled payment allocation for the selected Plan month, record what you actually paid, and complete your monthly review. Payment records document what you paid; Progress check-in balances determine the Current projection.
No monthly payment plan is available yet
Save a valid plan to generate this month’s payment allocation.
This month’s payments
The amounts below come from the active strategy’s monthly schedule. Current balance uses the latest Progress balance for each debt, or Plan Setup until your first check-in. Recorded payments reduce the remaining amount shown here.
| Debt | Current balance | Due | Planned | Recorded | Remaining | Status |
|---|
Monthly review
Use this workflow once per month to record what actually happened and refresh the Current projection without changing the Plan.
Payment history
Your recorded payments stay in Planner history. Payments from this Plan version can be edited or deleted if you entered them incorrectly. Payment records document what you paid; the latest valid Progress check-in balances update the Current projection.

Plan Setup
Enter figures from your current statements. Make your changes, then select Save plan to update your Active Plan.
Cash Flow
Project how much may be available for debt payments as income and living expenses change over time. Cash Flow doesn't change your Plan or Current projection. To change the Plan, use Plan Setup.
Save a Plan first
Cash Flow uses the Active Plan's debts, strategy, and start month as its payoff baseline.

Projected income and expense growth
Choose how the projection is displayed. These view controls don't change your saved Cash Flow assumptions.
Projected debt-payment capacity
Projected debt-payment capacity is take-home income minus the living expenses entered above. It shows how much cash could be available for debt payments, not a recommended payment. Compare it with the Plan required payment, the Cash Flow required payment, and your planned debt payment. For minimum-based strategies, the required-payment lines show minimums along each payoff path; Fixed shows the required fixed payment. The chart, table, and summary cards always use monthly amounts so short-term changes in payment capacity stay visible.
Projected effect on payoff
Compare two payoff paths from the debt balance shown below. Both use the same debts, APRs, and payoff strategy. The planned path keeps your saved monthly payment; when the strategy allows extra payments, the Cash Flow path applies projected cash available after living expenses. Your saved Plan and Current projection don't change.
Projected remaining debt balance
Strategy comparison
Each comparison uses the same saved balances, APRs, start month, and payment assumptions.
Snowball directs extra money to the lowest balance. Avalanche directs it to the highest APR. Extra payment adds the amounts below using the selected order. When two strategies produce the same monthly balances, their chart lines overlap.
Extra-payment assumptions
These assumptions apply only to the Extra payment strategy. Saved values are retained when another strategy is active.
Side-by-side schedule
Use the table for exact monthly values alongside the chart.
Scroll horizontally to see all debt columns in the schedule.
Save a strategy snapshot
Saved strategy snapshots
Saved strategy snapshots are historical records of the selected strategy assumptions and projection at the time you saved them. They don't change the Active Plan.

Adapt the plan
Plan tools
Set a payoff goal, test payment changes, schedule APR changes, or customize payoff priority.
APR and promotional-rate schedule
Schedule future APR changes such as a promotional-rate expiration. The payoff projection applies the new APR beginning in the selected month.
Save a plan to schedule APR changes.
Custom payoff order
Move debts into the order you want extra money to target. Current payments are still applied to every active debt first.
Save a plan to create a custom order.
Scenario Lab
Compare restructuring scenarios
These comparisons model costs and timelines. The Plan baseline uses the active payoff strategy saved in Plan Setup. They don't estimate approval or provide individualized recommendations.
Balance-transfer scenario
Consolidation loan scenario
Saved scenarios
Saved scenarios keep the result and assumptions from the time you saved them. They don't change when the Plan changes. “Use as new scenario” copies those assumptions into Scenario Lab so you can review them and run a new comparison against the Active Plan.

Monthly progress
Record one balance check-in for each Plan month. The latest valid check-in becomes the starting point for the Current projection, while the Plan projection stays unchanged. Use Plan Setup to change the Plan itself.
Plan, Actual, and Current projection
Historical check-ins keep the Plan comparison saved with them. The Current projection starts from the latest valid actual balances and continues from there.
Progress history
Each check-in stays tied to the strategy and plan version that produced its projected balances.
| Month | Strategy | Status | Saved Plan projection | Actual | Variance |
|---|
Plan version history
Each saved change to your Plan creates a version. You can load an older version into Plan Setup for review. The Active Plan doesn't change until you select Save plan.

Reports and workbook
The Excel workbook distinguishes Plan and Current projection values and includes a formatted Summary, debt and schedule tabs, scenario summary and detail tabs, Progress, Payments, and Plan history.
Planner backup
Download a copy of your saved plans and Planner history. Backup files can contain sensitive financial information, so store them securely.
A passphrase encrypts the backup in your browser. DebtOptimizerHub can't recover a forgotten passphrase.
Required only when you enter a backup passphrase above.
Import a backup Paid
Import adds backup plans to the account you are currently signed in to. It doesn't replace existing cloud plans. If a backup contains a plan that already exists, the imported version is added as a separate recovered copy.

Help & Assumptions
What the payoff model assumes
- Your saved balances, APRs, current payment formulas, monthly payoff budget, scheduled APR changes, and extra-payment assumptions remain the plan inputs until you edit them.
- Fixed payment keeps each debt's saved payment formula and doesn't automatically roll a paid-off debt's payment to another debt. A fixed-dollar formula stays level; a percent-of-balance formula recalculates monthly.
- Snowball, Avalanche, and Custom order treat each debt's saved payment formula as its monthly minimum and direct the remaining plan budget to the selected target. Additional monthly payment increases the recurring Extra strategy budget; a one-time payment is applied in Month 1.
- Interest is modeled monthly; card issuers may use daily-interest calculations and different statement methods. A scheduled APR change begins in the month you enter and remains in effect until a later scheduled change.
- No new purchases, penalties, unentered rate changes, or missed payments are inferred automatically. Record actual payments and statement balances to keep the plan aligned with what occurred.
- Planner payoff dates are month-level estimates anchored to the saved Plan start month.
- Payment due day affects the Monthly plan status, reminders, and calendar exports only. It doesn't change modeled payoff time or interest.
- Scenario Lab compares a proposed balance transfer or consolidation loan with the selected debts as they are modeled under the plan's active payoff strategy. If the active strategy is Extra payment, its saved recurring and Month 1 one-time assumptions are part of that Plan baseline.
- Scenario Lab treats modeled total costs as similar when their difference is at or below the greater of $25 or 1% of the Plan baseline's modeled total cost. This avoids presenting a small modeled difference as a meaningful cost advantage.
What the Planner doesn't do
- No bank connections, credit pulls, transaction syncing, or lender applications.
- The Planner doesn't guarantee approval, qualification, savings, payoff dates, or credit-score changes. Compare and Scenario Lab show modeled estimates, not guaranteed outcomes.
- The Planner doesn't recommend which strategy or product you should choose.
- If the same Planner data is changed in two places, the Planner may ask which version to keep or preserve a recovered copy instead of overwriting changes.
Backups and recovery
Download a .dohplan backup to keep a separate copy of your Planner data. Importing a backup requires active Planner access and adds the backup data without replacing your existing cloud plans. If the backup contains a plan that already exists, the imported version is added as a separate recovered copy.
Plan, Actual, and Current projection
- A check-in is Ahead or Behind only when its actual balance differs from the Plan projection saved with that check-in by more than the greater of $25 or 1% of projected balance. A variance at or inside that tolerance is On schedule.
- Historical check-ins retain the strategy and plan context they were measured against even if you later edit the plan or change strategies.
- The latest valid Progress check-in balances are the starting point for the Current projection. The Current projection begins in the following month, uses the current Active Strategy and applicable Plan assumptions, preserves recurring Extra payments, applies scheduled APR changes from their effective month forward, and never reapplies the original Month 1 one-time Extra.
- Saving, editing, or deleting a check-in updates the Current projection automatically when the latest valid actual balances change. It never changes Plan Setup. Use Plan Setup whenever you want to change the Active Plan itself.
- Payment records and monthly balance check-ins serve different purposes: payments document what you paid, while check-in balances determine the Current projection. A payment record by itself doesn't create a new Current balance projection.
Reminders and notifications
- Browser notifications are optional, require browser permission, and are evaluated when the Planner is open; browser and operating-system settings can suppress them.
- Email reminders are optional and are sent only when the site reminder service is enabled. Delivery timing is not guaranteed, so use creditor statements and account alerts to confirm payment due dates.
- Reminder settings can include payment due dates, scheduled APR changes, and the monthly check-in. Reminders don't initiate payments or contact creditors.
Cloud storage, offline use, and subscription access
Your signed-in Planner data is stored with your account. This browser also keeps a local copy of saved Planner data so it can sync when you're back online. Editing Plan Setup doesn't save or queue changes until you select Save plan. Free-trial access must be verified online; temporary offline editing is available only after this browser has recently verified paid access.
When a never-paid free trial ends, Planner access is locked but saved data is retained. If a customer has paid for the Planner at least once and later ends the subscription, saved Planner history remains available in read-only mode. Editing, new calculations, imports, and exports require active access; paid exports require an active paid subscription.
